Women leadership Summit- SiliconIndia

Bodhtree appreciates SiliconIndia’s efforts to bring to light the contribution of women leaders to the increasing success of businesses, families and communities in our country. We are delighted to have Dr. Akila Jaikumar, Sr. Vice President & Director as a speaker at the Women Leadership Summit organized by SiliconIndia in Hyderabad on 5th March 2010 http://bit.ly/avL1db

It really encourages us to appreciate and accept the fact that its the era of Women Leadership in the so called Man’s world.

Women in India are no longer the housewives who were expected to be in the confined boxes of being at home and looking after the family. As they say, the box has been torn apart and it is the era of women entrepreneurs who give healthy competition to their male counterparts. With the increasing standard of living, it has become not just a priority but in some sense a necessity for women to break the barriers of orthodox? mentalities. Though many are still oblivious to the changing times, there are more who have come out as nothing but outstanding in almost every walk of professional life.

From Kiran Bedi, the first woman IPS officer India has seen to Kalpana Chawla, an astronaut for whom sky wasn’t the limit; Indian women are examples and role models for the many young girls of the country still struggling and aspiring to be there one day. They have made the male dominated corporate sector of our country realize the importance of having a personal touch of a female mind to be able to grow and succeed as a business entity.

One such woman is Dr. Akila Jaikumar, Sr. Vice President& Director at Bodhtree Consulting Ltd. Akila holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and received the Vittal N Chandavarkar award for the best thesis in the department of Engineering. She has published 13 papers in international scientific journals related to her doctoral thesis and post-doctoral work. She started off as a scientist in the CSIR Lab and then made her mark over the past 15 years in the IT industry. Besides heading the Competency Excellence Group at Virtusa, managing large global teams, working with international clients and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, being responsible for on-time delivery of projects and operations of the delivery group including staffing, budgeting, revenue growth, pre-sales, domain and technology competency building, capacity building, client relationship management and administration are some of her accomplishments.

We wish the best to SiliconIndia in their efforts.
